Training & Certification

Professional Development

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
– Nelson Mandela

Professional Development

Professional Development is the term used to describe the learning activities professionals engage in to develop and enhance their abilities. It enables learning to become conscious and pro-active, rather than the passive and reactive.

Professional Development combines different methodologies to learning, such as training workshops, conferences and events like e-learning programs, best practice techniques and ideas sharing, all focused for an individual to improve and pursue effective professional development.

Accompanied by such growth is the acceptance that academic qualifications must offer more professional and skills-based or ‘practical’ learning. A structured, pragmatic and methodical approach to learning helps employers across industries and corporate sector to develop the skills and knowledge of their staff to maintain a sustainable and competitive advantage in the niche market.

Engaging in Professional Development ensures that both academic and practical qualifications do not become out-dated or obsolete, allowing individuals to continually ‘up-skill’ or ‘re-skill’ themselves, regardless of occupation, age or educational level.

Benefits of Professional Development Training

Professional Development is essential in helping individuals, organizations or industries to keep skills and knowledge up to date. Providing Professional Development enables organizations to become a knowledge bank to key stakeholders of the organization. Training courses, workshops and events allow professionals to use the learning time towards individual requirements according to the demand of work-place.

Professional Development learning benefits an organization through recognition and increases brand perception. Internal use of Professional Development encourages and promotes a healthy learning culture for an organization, leading to a more competent workforce and retaining valuable staff.

Many organizations have staff with Professional Development obligations as members of professional bodies. In circumstances where internal training resources are low, organizations use outsourced Professional Development training providers to meet training development requirements.

Outsourced Professional Development Training providers are typically training companies, executive corporate, online learning resources, events and conference organizers. They are experts in their respective fields and provide practical learning opportunities through events, Seminars and Professional Development courses. Some Professional Development courses and workshops are just of 1-2 hours duration, delivered in a seminar or classroom-style. Other training courses can be a full 2-3 days program.
