The Area Study Centre for Europe (ASCE) was established at the University of Karachi by an Act of Parliament (ASC Act No. XLV, 1975), alongside five other Area Study Centres at major state-sector universities of Pakistan. The Centre undertakes research at M.Phil., M.S. and Ph.D. levels, with findings published as books, monographs and profiles, and publishes the bi-annual research Journal of European Studies.

Research Focus
- Research on the European Union's governance and politics, law, economics and external relations, European Common Foreign and Security Policy, Europe-Pakistan relations, and Europe's relations with the developing and Muslim world.
Location & Facilities
- 01Located near the I.B.A. Staff Town and H.E.J. Institute of Chemistry, with its own dedicated building.
- 02Provides feedback to Pakistani policy makers and receives research proposals from the Foreign Office and government institutions.
- 03Offers certificate and diploma-level language courses in French, German and English.
