Semester Examinations Section
The Semester Examinations Section handles examination and academic matters governed by the semester rules, for the University's semester-based faculties as well as its affiliated colleges.
The section was established in 1974 on the initiative of the then Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Zainul Abedin, during the tenure of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmood Hussain. Over the following decades it moved through several homes on campus and steadily formalized its processes — most notably around 1997, when result announcements were expanded to include full statements of objections and academic status alongside each student's outcome, reducing disputes over promotion to the next class.
Through 1998–2006 the section built out an annual operating cycle across all affiliated departments and colleges, and the semester rules themselves were revised and republished (1999–2000) with the approval of the Academic Council. Later updates introduced computerized grade conversion for programs such as B.S., B.Pharm. and B.B.A., and streamlined application handling for students.
