Established in 2000 to fulfil the need for scholars of Islamic Studies across Pakistan's institutions. Islamic sciences such as Tafseer, Hadith, Seerah, History of Islamic Jurisprudence and Arabic form the core of its curriculum.

Our Focus

Foundations of Islamic Theology

Tafseer & Hadith

Core Quranic exegesis and Prophetic tradition studies.

Seerah & History

Study of the Prophetic biography and Islamic jurisprudential history.

Semester System

Teaching and assessment under University of Karachi semester rules.

The department was founded alongside its sister department, Quran-o-Sunnah, to expand scholarly capacity in Islamic theology and jurisprudence at the University of Karachi.

Career Opportunities

Graduates serve in educational institutions, research institutes, religious institutions and the armed forces; Master's or B.S. degree holders are eligible to apply for Grade-17 posts.

Department of Usool-ud-Din was established in 2000 to fulfill the need of scholars of Islamic Studies in various institute of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Islamic Sciences like Tafseer, Hadith, Seerah, History of Islamic Jurisprudence and Arabic are some of the courses that are being taught at the Department.

Teaching and Assessment

Teaching and assessment is done under the semester system as per rules of the University of Karachi.

Career Opportunities

Students passing out from this department are providing their services in educational institutions, research institutes, religious institutions and armed forces. Master or B.S. Degree holders can apply for any post of Grade – 17.

Facilities

The students of the department use seminar library facilities of the faculty of Islamic studies where a good collection of books and journals on Islamic Studies is available. The faculty of Islamic studies has also a computer lab for teaching and research activities.

Thesis in M.A. & MS/PhD. Programs is available for the research fellows.

 

Publication

Research Journal is expected from the department.
