The working of the Chair is overseen by an Advisory Committee constituted for a four-year tenure, comprising the Vice Chancellor, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, the Chairman of the Sindhi Department, the Director of the Chair, the Registrar, and two experts appointed by the Vice Chancellor. The Syndicate is the final authority on appointments and major decisions.

Introduction
Director: Prof. Saleem Memon
The principal aim of the Chair was to initiate research on different aspects of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s life and poetry, and publish books and periodicals regularly to facilitate the students and general public to understand his philosophy. In order to spread his message of peace, love and brotherhood among the people of Sindh, Pakistan and the world, it was decided that the Chair would organize extension lectures, seminars and conferences at local, national and international levels.
The Advisory Committee
The working of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair is monitored by an Advisory Committee especially constituted for this purpose, for a tenure of four years. All appointments are made and important decisions are taken on the recommendations of the committee, the syndicate being the final authority.

Ms. Shahida Dost Muhammad
Shahida Dost Muhammad was appointed as Research Officer in Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair on 26th June 2003. She did her Masters in Sindhi from the Department of Sindhi, University of Karachi in 2002. She is registered in M.Phil/Ph.D programme in the same department. Shahida is senior among all the three Research officers and has been assisting in editing of quarterly research journal of the Chair, “Kalachi” from the last three years. She has 6 articles to her credit. -
Ms. Jamila Tabasum
Jamila Tabasum was appointed as Research Officer in Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair on 12th April 2007. She did her first Masters in Sociology from the Department of Sociology, University of Karachi in First division and is registered in M. Phil programme in the same department. She did her second Masters in Sindhi securing First division, First position. Jamila is a research oriented, hard working and dedicated worker. -
Mr. Ashiqu Hussain Depar
Ashique Hussain was appointed Research Officer in Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai Chair on 16th April 2007. He did his Masters in Sindhi from the Department of Sindhi, University of Karachi securing First division with First position and received a gold medal in the recently held convocation of the University of Karachi. Ashique Hussain is very cooperative and is a hard working dedicated researcher.

Mr. Habibullah Jakhro
Mr. Habibullah Jakhro joined the Chair as Computer Operator on 15th January 1995. He did his Graduation from the University of Karachi in 2003. He also did Diploma in Information Technology from Skill Development Council in 2001. He has good knowledge of Desktop Publishing and Printing and has contributed as Graphics designer for many book titles of the Chair. Mr. Habibullah Jakhro is a hard working and dedicated worker of the Chair. -
Mr. Abdul Hannan
Mr. Abdul Hannan joined the Chair as C.C.T on 16th September 2003 and is working on the same position at present. He did his Master in Sindhi from the University of Karachi in 2006 in 2nd Division. Mr. Hannan is a hard working and dedicated worker of the Chair. -
Mr. Abdul Ghaffar
Mr. Abdul Ghaffar joined the Chair as Messenger on 13th January 1999 and is working on the same position at present. He has done his Matric from Hyderabad Board -
Mr. Noor Muhammad
Mr. Noor Muhammad joined the Chair as Messenger on 11th October 1990 and is working on the same position at present
Objectives
Prof. Dr. Ayaz Hussain Qadri the then Chairman of the Department of Sindhi, was requested to prepare the PC-I for the proposed Chair, through letter No. S-6/86-522 dated 4-9-1986. The aims and objectives, as described in the PC-I were:

To organize and promote research on the life, poetry, times and the works of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, and on the branches of learning which have relevance to the study and understanding of the vision of Shah Latif, i.e. History, Philosophy, Sociology, Comparative Religions, Tasawuf (Mysticism). Literature and Art.

To establish a research library and a museum, acquire research material/documents etc, including manuscripts of Shah-Jo-Risalo and works relevant to the study of Shah Latif.

To hold and sponsor lectures, talks, seminars, meetings, study groups and conferences on the subjects close to the poetry and philosophy of Shah Latif and to participate in similar activities organized by other organizations.

To publish books, pamphlets and journals to achieve the objectives.

To institute fellowship.

To translate Shah-Jo-Risalo and works on Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in English, Urdu and other languages.

To translate into Sindhi and Urdu all such literature which may promote his thoughts.

To compile, translate and publish articles and literature, which may promote brotherhood and unity among the people of Pakistan in order to achieve objectives of national integration and cohesion.
