Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan, Director, Institute of Environmental Studies joined the Institute in 1990. He has done Ph.D on waste stabilization ponds technology. His specific area of interest is the environmental impact assessment studies. He has gained considerable experience on treatment and disposal of wastewater in hot climates. Dr. Tariq Masood Ali Khan has joined this Institute as a Professor in May, 2008. Just after completion of his Ph. D. degree, Dr. Khan joined National Institute of Oceanography in 1991. Dr. Khan has also worked in the SAARC Meteorological Research Centre (SMRC), Dhaka, Bangladesh for four years. Dr. Khan participated in many national and international projects related to the climate change issues, ocean-atmosphere processes & global phenomena, pollution studies and coastal zone management. The experience of participation in deep sea cruises including expedition to Antarctica enables him to do multidisciplinary research work and award of START Young Scientist Award and Appreciation Letter of Secretary General, SAARC in 2000. |

Dr Omm-e- Hany Associate Professor, Institute of Environmental Studies has joined the Institute in 1990. Her research during past years has focused on biological and biochemical effects of environmental contaminants. Her key areas of study included environmental issues pertaining to public health and hygiene. Presently she is working on the biodegradation of toxic pollutants having significant impact on environment. |

Prof. Dr. S. Shahid Shaukat, Ex Chairman, Department of Botany, University of Karachi, has joined the Institute of Environmental Studies, as an HEC Eminent Scholar in September 2008. He did his PhD from the University Western Ontario, Canada in Statistical Ecology. Additionally, he holds a masters degree in Forestry from the University of Wales, UK.
He has authored about 300 research papers in Journals of international repute and published a book entitled: Essentials of Mathematical Ecology.

Prof. Dr. M. Altaf Khan has served Karachi University in the capacity of Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies and as a Dean faculty of Science. Mr. Waqar Ahmed has joined the Institute in 2006. He graduated from the Institute in 2004. He is enrolled in M.Phil./PhD. Program and working on mangrove ecosystem. He has completed various professional training courses in the country and abroad. Before joining the Institute, he served as Program Associate in IUCN, The World Conservation Union, the International organization working for the conservation of nature.
