Program of Studies
The Honors Program
The teaching staff, laboratory equipments and classroom space are available for the Honors, Masters and Research degrees programs. The main purpose of the honors program is to give a sound training in the basics of geology and to prepare students for advanced courses in MSc.
The Masters Program
It is two years program, the previous and the final years. The previous year is common to the third year of the honours program. Several fields of specialization are offered, such as petroleum geology, sedimentology, geochemistry, micropaleontology, marine geology and engineering geology.
M. Phil/Ph.D. program
Five Ph.D. and four M.Phil degrees have so far been awarded in the last few years. At present quite a good number of scholars are registered for M. Phil and Ph.D. degrees in the fields of economic geology, geochemistry, sedimentology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, petroleum geology and marine geology in spite of limited laboratory and field facilities.
In spite of shortage of teaching staff and heavy load of teaching of various classes, the senior teachers undertake funded research project from different agencies.
The staff members of the department have more than 250 research publications in International scientific journals within country and abroad.
